Best way: Take the MRT (metro) from the airport to the central business, shopping and hotel districts. The trip from Changi Airport station to City Hall at the center of the system will take about 30 minutes (there are several stops along the way) and cost S$1.40.

The MAXICAB is a shuttle service with flexible routing from the airport to almost all hotels within the business district (departures every 30 minutes). It's a bit cheaper than taxis, and the trip takes about half an hour. Reservations: 65-542-5831.

Singapore Bus Service operates regular buses from the airport to Orchard Road downtown. It runs daily, with multiple departures each hour. The ride takes about an hour.

Some singapore hotels have courtesy vans available to pick up arriving guests, and rental cars are also readily available.

Arriving by sea
— Visitors arrive at either the Singapore Cruise Centre, which is part of the World Trade Centre, or at the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal in the east, which mainly serves ships to and from nearby waters. From the Cruise Centre, a taxi to the city will take about 15 minutes. If you aren't pressed for time, you can also catch Bus 14. Both the taxi stand and the bus stop are located just outside the Cruise Centre. If you are docking at Tanah Merah, the only way to get to the city (or anywhere, for that matter) is by taxi.
